New Year Wardrobe additions and plans
Purchase of a new sweatshirt and some second hand footwear. Trying out a capsule wardrobe plan.
I’ve continued to log what I wear most days, the most worn item in January was my Gap grey merino jumper, usually on top of a long sleeve tee. Lots of warm layers, often including my aran cardigan at home. My effort to wear skirts more often has slipped, with only 6 days of skirt wearing. Skinny jeans wear the most popular trousers.
My New Candy Floss sweatshirt
Back in December a new pink sweatshirting arrived at the Stalf Studio, where I sew. I immediately knew it was the perfect pink for my wardrobe. I had been thinking about knitting myself a pink jumper, but not got round to finding the right wool. I took a scrap of the fabric home to see how well it would go with my checked vintage jacket, denim, all my sweatpants, mushroom linen trousers and charcoal linen skirt. Best of all it will be perfect with my blue and white print vintage summer dress, that has been rarely worn as I hadn’t got much to go with it.
Two other new items were footwear from Vinted, Clarkes beige loafers and Ipanemia pink flip flops. The only proper shoes I own are black patent loafers, so these will be great to wear with lighter coloured trousers and encourage me to wear skirts in the summer.
I’ve made myself a new tote bag reusing the linen print from a bag I made a few years ago, the handles and base had worn out. I’ve lined it with some of my eco-printed fabric, made an interior zip pocket big enough for my phone and wallet.
I have decided to select a ‘Capsule Wardrobe’ from my clothes that I will wear over the next couple of months. Partly inspired by Courtney Carver’s Project 333. Not sure if I will restrict myself to only wearing my capsule or not. I shall log my daily wears and report back in a month.
